My first review is of Sukho Thai Spa chain, they are present in various locations across major Indian cities.
I was feeling a little down lately and my very thoughtful husband decided to give me a surprise and take me for a spa date! The idea of being pampered during a spa session at the middle of the week did lift my spirits! We went to Sukho Thai situated in High Street Phoenix Mall in Lower Parel, Mumbai. Now I am a big fan of spa and massages and have tried quite a few places in India and abroad. I have to admit that the Sukho Thai team has done a pretty good job most of the time I have visited them. Except for the one time when they mixed up my appointment with another client. They mistakenly booked 2 clients under the same slot, which also happened to be the last available slot of the day, which was a Friday. I was pretty let down, since I had a long week at work and was really looking forward to the relaxing spa session. However they apologised for the same and I realised it was a genuine mistake. Plus I was super hungry so decided to go for a nice hot meal instead.
Well this time when we walked in, the receptionist welcomed us with a lovely smile and mentioned that they had an offer going on. Happy hours on weekdays! 20% off on all services between 10am to 5pm & 1 on 1 free for all 90 mins therapies – which included foot massage with hot stone therapy, herb bun therapy and foot massage with scrub. We decided to go for the herb bun therapy.
Ambience – ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
From the moment you walk past the entrance door, a beautiful serene feeling engulfs you. The entire space has been sound proofed and you don’t hear the hustle bustle of the mall. The fragrance of lemon grass and lavender coupled with the sound of birds chirping in a whistling wood, sound of water rippling down a hill, transports you to the soulful beaches of Thailand or the hills of Malaysia. You almost feel like you are in the middle of a forest with a with a fresh water pond nearby. It’s simply rejuvenating.
Service – ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️
The massage therapists are highly professional and super polite. The receptionist assigns your masseuse, they offer you a change of loose palazzo pants, cotton top and slippers so you can get comfortable while getting the massage. They welcome you with a Namaste ( which we Indians have stopped saying these days! ) and move on to washing your feet with soap and scrubbing it to get the skin soft and supple before they apply the aroma oil. Once they start with the massage they check with you if the pressure is ok. Normally they assign a masseuse of the opposite sex, but if you feel you will be more comfortable with a same sex masseuse, you can always request for one. They wear a breathing mask throughout the entire process so guests are comfortable and we don’t have to feel them breathing down our neck while they stretch our back! What I like about the massage here is that the therapists are highly trained and they know the exact pressure points amd postures to break the knots on body. All therapies end with a full stretching exercise, similar to the ones that our personal trainers provide at the gym. Only, it’s even better here! Seriously you have to experience it for yourself. The massage here is a combination of acupressure, deep tissue massage and stretching exercises along with hot oil treatment ending with a cleansing Sri Lankan ginger tea and fresh seasonal fruits.
Product rating – ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The products used like the scrubs, aroma oil, the herb bun and hot towel wrap with lavender essence are all very authentic. They use the products with utmost care, specially the stick technique used for accessing the pressure points under the feet is something a lot of masseuse get wrong and doesn’t really help sooth the body pain or calm the nerves. But at Sukho Thai I have never been disappointed with the products and the technique. The cleansing tea and fruits at the end of the massage is just what you need to feel light and relaxed not only from the outside but also rejuvenated from inside!
Value for money – ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
With the one on one free offer my experience was an absolute value for money. We paid a total of 4250 including taxes for 2 people and this is a steal for any 90 minute therapy! If you are in a hurry you can always go in for a quick 30mins or 1 hour session of the foot spa which costs 1890 for the 60 min session. And if you happen to visit on a weekday afternoon you get 20% off on all services! All in all I find the entire experience worth every penny and would definitely recommend this to everyone who wants to experience something different than your typical deep tissue oil massage. So go ahead and pamper yourself! This is also a perfect gift for an anniversary or birthday!
